We often make assumption about the global reach of the internet along the lines of the digital divide and who exactly can access the internet. But the division of market and content is as territorial as ever. Where Spotify boasts of 6 million subscribers, we should question where all of these subscribers live. Universal and Samsung have their eyes on the largest continent of people in the world where cell phones are more common than computers. And musical taste and content is as diverse as the people who call Africa home.
